Julie & Julia & Sarah

I just had the pleasure of enjoying the adorableness that is Julie & Julia. Have you seen it? What a GEM! Amy Adams is one of my favorite actresses, based solely on how stinkin' cute she is (well not SOLELY, she's a good actress ta-boot). She didn't disappoint in this role - just as charming as ever!! And to even comment on Meryl Streep's performance would degrade it, since there are no words to describe how astounding she is. I don't know how she did it, but she actually physically transformed into Julia Childs! Bravo! I've never liked Julia Childs much but I walked away with a new appreciation for her.

Many people will probably go see this movie and be inspired to enter the kitchen with new fervor and bravery (my Mom, for example, who went to the movie with me, is probably going to go buy Mrs. Child's famous cookbook now). For me, not so much. Didn't change my opinion on cooking in the slightest. Can't do it, don't enjoy it, terrified of it. AND...not many of the recipes shown looked too appetizing to me (other than all the deserts, of course. *yum*) I doubt I will ever, ever cook because it "relaxes" me or because "it's the one thing in my life I can control and count on." BAH! I can't even control a bowl of cereal. ;)

What the movie DID inspire me to do is...this!! Blog! (If you're not familiar with the premise, Amy Adam's character Julie decides to cook through Julia Child's entire cookbook in 365 days and blog her experiences.) Watching her blog made me miss blogging terribly! The satisfaction of putting your thoughts down into words through the happy clickity-clack of the keyboard and the thrill of getting comments from total strangers that for some reason CARE about what you wrote. *sigh* It really is so fun.

Realizing how much I enjoy it makes me see that I need to make more time for it. I know I'm busy busy busy, blah blah blah, but in the scheme of things how long does this REALLY take? I've written, edited and rewritten everything you see here in the amount of time it took two songs to buzz by on my iTUNES. (Which were: an awesome version of "Heart of the Matter" done by India.Arie & a guilty pleasure, "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus. Don't judge.)

I think back to my stent of unemployment (aaah to be so relaxed again *haha*) and remember how much I loved taking the time to blog each day. And for Heaven's sake, I have SOO much more to talk about these days! *haha* But now I'm not blogging? Ridiculous! And if I'm not going to keep a journal or something, this really is the best way to document what's happening in my little life so I can look back on it later!

So thank you, Julie & Julia, for inspiring me to make time for the things I LOVE...and for making me crave whatever that scrumptious looking 3-layer cake with chocolate frosting was. Mmmmm. :)

I'll be back!

100th post!

Can you believe it? Seems like only yesterday that I began this blog with the thought, "What on earth am I gonna write about?" Turns out I've had plenty of interesting things to say! (Or, more likely, that I just enjoy typing pointless blather. Yeah that's it.)
I've been having so much fun as a member of blog-land. I love that you care enough to read what I blab on about. And I also love to read what YOU blab on about! *haha* In fact recently I've really enjoyed discovering other people's blogs. I think I just really love to read conversational writing. It's so engaging. And I find it fascinating to peek inside other people's lives (especially when pictures are included)!

One awesome bonus of visiting other blogs is that sometimes those writers follow me back here and visit me! :) I think that's just super! Jeremy calls this "networking," but he doesn't really understand my obsession with blogging in the first place.
Him: "So what, you like, write about what you did today?"
Me: "Sometimes...or whatever's on my mind."
Him: "Like a diary?"
Me: "Uh, sort of."
Him: "But other people get to read it?"
Me: "That's kind of the point."
Him: "I don't get it."
Me: "That's ok honey, I love you anyway." :)

Cutest Blog on the Block!

While blog-hopping today I found this neato website that has FREE (you heard me, FREE!) blog backgrounds! I uploaded this one and am super excited. They had a whole bunch that looked like scrapbook backgrounds....even some that looked glittery! *squeal* Don't be surprised if my blog has a new background every week. Or more. ;)

I am LOVING this weather! It reminds me of the mountains. Coolness in the air, gray skies...*sigh* I took the dogs for a walk last night before the rain rolled in and even wore a JACKET! Fall is coming, Hallelujah! I know cloudy days depress some people, and if that's you I'm sorry. But I adore them. Always have. My Mom and sister are the same way...maybe it's hereditary? All the same, we wait impatiently for Fall and the so-called "gloominess" that comes with it. I love that God created seasons. There is always something to look forward to in His beautiful world!

Movin' and a Groovin'!

Well thanks to miss Toni I finally got a playlist on my blog! Hooray!! I know some of you will probably just shut it off first thing it comes on (and for that reason I put it up top so you can get to it easily.) *haha* But I always think it's fun to see what other people are listening to (I've found some great music like that!) so I wanted to add my own playlist.

It's a pretty random list, I think. I didn't even begin to make a "my favorite music" list because that would have taken me months to compile. I just put together a bunch of songs I've been listening to a lot lately. Some of these songs I've JUST discovered and others are ones I've had for a while that have recently floated back to the top of my playlists. :)

Hope you have had a great Friday! I'm going to take my dogs for a walk and enjoy this BEE-YOO-TIFUL weather!!

ME? Start a BLOG? Ok! :)

Well here I am in blog-land! I didn't think I really needed a blog, considering I already spend way too much time on Facebook. But it's been suggested by several people that I start one, and apparently I'm extremely susceptible to peer pressure because here I am! ;) This could be fun, though, because here I can post Scrapbook pages I've done and rant & rave beyond the barriers that Facebook has restrained me with. SARAH UNLEASHED? Scary, I know! :)

With everything there is to consider when putting your heart and soul out on the Internet for everyone to see, you might be surprised that I was MOST concerned with what I would CALL this silly blog, since all the ones I've seen have cute, catchy little names. I spent a great deal of time fretting about this. The title I've ended up with is a quote from "Finding Neverland" which I use quite frequently. I went with it because, in the end, I don't foresee anything I wish to post here being much more than, well, silliness! :)

Before I had even CONSIDERED starting my own blog, I have been "blog-stalking" two gals that I think do a particularly nice job. Kelly Purkey is a scrapper I found on 2P's. She does really cute pages and after delving further into her blog it seems we have much in common (well, from music tastes to love of cupcakes. Does that count for MUCH in common? *haha*). Then I blog-hopped from her page and found Sarah Champion. I am intrigued by her casual writing style and the fact that she is about to move to New York City. Exciting, no? Plus, she has loved Newsies since childhood, as have I, so therefore we must be soul-sisters. :)

My point? I would love for my blog to be even HALF as entertaining as theirs...even if to no one else but ME! So stay tuned if you like...it's sure to be pretty random, pretty silly, and pretty much ME!
